Valentine Mansion London

Margam Castle

Margam Castle is a Tudor Gothic mansion and was built sometime between 1830 and 1840, although the Margam estate itself dates back to the early 1500’s and there was once a building on this site prior to the one seen today and there is evidence to suggest that the Romans once occupied the area. There are also the remains of a Norman Abbey which can still be seen to this day.
The Chapter House at Margam dates from the 12th century and the Orangery - found within the grounds - dates from about 18th century.

Paranormal Activity

The Murdered Gamekeeper.
In the late 19th century a game keeper by the name of Robert Scott was brutally murdered at Margam by a poacher and ever since that fateful event his ghostly form has been seen on numerous occasions roaming around the grounds and inside the castle; the grand staircase is a favourite haunt of his.

The Blacksmith.
The figure of a man, believed to have been the blacksmith for the estate, has also been reported by staff and visitors alike at Margam Castle. Whenever he is approached however, he simply vanishes into thin air.

Ethereal noises.

The security staff at the castle often report strange and unexplained bangs and thuds emanating from areas of the building that are unoccupied at the time. Phantom footsteps have also been heard on a regular basis, as have the singing voices of ghostly children.

The Margam Cat
Several visitors have reported seeing and hearing a spectral cat within the castle. On a recent Dead Haunted Nights investigation several party members actually saw this apparition first hand – twice during the investigation at different locations.
